CATALAN STATUTE OF AUTONOMY

That this House notes that more than one million people attended the 10 July 2010 protest in Barcelona in favour of proper powers for Catalonia; welcomes the continuing debate over the constitution of Catalonia; believes Catalonia to be a nation; recognises that independently organized votes on independence have shown a majority in favour; expresses concern that the democratic will of the people of Catalonia as shown in the 2006 referendum on the Statute of Autonomy should be over-ruled by the judiciary of Madrid in its ruling of June 2010; expresses further concern that future constitutional developments in Catalonia which take place with the support of the government and people of Catalonia may face judicial review by organisations which are not neutral or independent in this matter; and calls for the 2006 statute to be carried out in the form which was supported at the ballot box and that the residents of Catalonia should be allowed the right to determine democratically their own future.

Aquesta Cambra pren nota que més d'un milió de persones van assistir a la protesta de 10 de juliol 2010 a Barcelona a favor de facultats pròpies de Catalunya; acull amb satisfacció el continu debat sobre la constitució a Catalunya; considera Catalunya com una nació, reconeix que les votacions que s'han organitzat sobre la independència han mostrat una majoria favorable; expressa la seva preocupació perquè la voluntat democràtica del poble de Catalunya, com es mostra en el referèndum de 2006 sobre l'Estatut d'Autonomia ha estat supra-governada pel poder judicial de Madrid, en la seva sentència de juny de 2010; expressa la seva preocupació, a més, per la futura evolució constitucional a Catalunya doncs pot tenir una revisió judicial per organitzacions no neutrals ni independents en la matèria; demana que l'estatut de 2006 es dugui a terme en la forma que va ser recolzada a les urnes i que als residents a Catalunya se’ls permeti el dret a determinar democràticament el seu propi futur.
